What a great show!!! Mr. Hotshot (the opener) was replaced last minute cuz he had a show.
I have to say Mah Honey ROCKS with Gingersol (like Pinesol)!
February 20th at CBGBs The Silos with guests Gingersol and someone else to be named later will be quite a rock n roll show-not sure if K will sit in as he has been cause they want a monogamous drummer (since mahhoney is married to The Silos there is a slight conflict)
IN ANY CASE the show will rock and my mom is coming for her birthday so ALLRIGHT its a good one to attend-mark your calendars
please

Last night I dreamed that we mved into a beautiful studio apartment in the attic of a Victorian manse which was also a small hotel-on luxurious grounds-green all around, the ocean nearby and the quirky Galveston scene (it was on the gulf coast-ah texas)
what a nut, even in my dreams I am moving, improving, arranging furniture. I was deciding that we needed to get rid of a ton of stuff (hmm just like my life...). I also dreamed that Pam was beating everyone at poker, vixen.

Sorting through the ever growing list of emails abut our worrisome political climate-the news depresses me somthing awful -I found a few uplifting things-sites where you can feel usefull, good reports. ways to be constructive. Here are some highlights:
you can call the white house and get a real live operator with whom to officially register your opinion about this possible war- call 202-456-1111 be patient through the recording, wait for the real live person then say "for" or "against" war on Iraq. I did it a couple of weeks ago-what a thrill.
Read about what moveon.org has been up to-I gave a lil somethin for the superbowl ad
For New Yorkers check out brooklyn parents for peace-they've got lots of volunteer opportunities and meetings planned
My phone company also tends to cull through the riff raff and find great online resources as well (great service and free Ben & Jerry's too)-click the "activism" tab
Watch out -the United nations copy & forward petition is not official
ok now back to your regularly scheduled funtimes...

Short work week!!!!!!! hooray Somehow the corporate work-a-day drudgery makes me again feel like an anxious adolescent longing for summer. That's my general sentiment anyway, I guess. Besides just wanting to be free free free from work I also feel compelled to address my other work - my new home. Went to Ikea yesterday and bought lots of crazy rugs (OK four)-one of which made mah honey go "ewwww" and shriek like a baby girl. So what if its sheepskin! Its soft, fuzzy and oh so warm-a big plus when you've only got two little electric heaters goin. Bye bye little Lambchop. One rug is a welcome mat made of weird blue astroturf in varying heights-forming a nested box pattern-it called to me. Those crazy Ikeans! Radiator hook up is on the horizon though (huzzah) along with shower hook up and a possible new bathroom sink. The RED bedroom has been de-construction-zoned and made cozy. I've ordered the broken parts to be resent so I can put together the tiny chandelier for the tiny room. The closets are mostly functional-the kitchen is very nerarly done-there's the matter of three small shelves over the fridge where currently sit three wobbly wine crates holding olive oil and numerous other heavy breakables. Also a fancy new magnetic knife rack to mount-woo woo. So the kitchen will soon be unpacked-once the shower is usable we're human again- I hope. Of course there's still a decent list but those two main areas -kitchen and bath- are sooo very important for sanity/stability and cetera. I do like having an excuse to go to Sistra's whenever I get the urge-thank you shower fairy (also JHP-rocknroll) I'll have to keep that up. SO happy with the house elves and mahhoney for bringing the bathroom out of the gasp zone and making it look as if it may finally have joined the domestic world. That's the update-maybe some day I'll post pictures. We are working on an album-before and after.

part one
I said elsewhere that I'd post this Pozole recipe-I forgot to bring in the little hand copied version but here's all you really need to know all non-scientific like-
I make this soup as my quick throw together comfort food so I have simplified the recipe for my evil purposes (Mrs. Ely makes it with pork roast chunks in it yum-too much work for me)
DSICLAIMER: my proportions may be funny-I cook by taste smell touch not soo scientific therefore, trust your instincts-
Make 1.5 quart chicken broth (- I love 'Better than Bouillon' -a glace type chicken stock paste-always great-great with other recipes too)
Roast 2-3 large poblano peppers so you can peel the skins off (I do this in the broiler, first running the peppers under cold water and leaving them wet to aid in the blackened bubbling up of skins-to be peeled)-keep checking til skins slightly blackened-separating or bubbling up (in my broiler its usually about 8 minutes on each side)
part two
While water is not yet boiling and peppers are roasting - dice up 3-4 garlic cloves (depending on need and taste)-dump it in the pot-add salt, pepper, little cayenne and oregano (slight) too taste/smell) (repeat spices if necessary)
Stir whenever you want-once it boils turn it down to simmer
Open and drain (with a little rinse) 3-5 medium cans of golden and white hominy (I tried making it from dry hominy and it just never acted or tasted right) I like mine thick (thus 5 cans or two BIG and one reg)
Dice 2-3 large tomatoes OR for the "I'm about to get sick" lazy girl, get a large can (or two reg) of diced tomatoes -no flavor, not crushed, no paste-just diced tomatoes -there's an organic version I see around a bunch that's really yummy fresh, etc.
Dump hominy in the pot
(put a little olive oil on your hands first if you don't want to absorb hot pepper oil into your tender little hands-don't touch your eyes even if it doesn't seem spicy-learned the hard way) Peel and de-seed the peppers - slice into edible-sized strips - dump em in the pot
not all poblanos are equally spicy, it sort of varies-you can spice up some sleepers with more cayenne or a little white pepper
Add tomatoes last just let em get hot-don't stir them hard, they're tender lil guys
keep on med low heat till all ingredients are sufficiently heated up (about ten more minutes if you do it in the order above)
Dice two roma tomatoes, a large avocado and limes for garnish
To serve put soup in bowls then add fresh roma, avocado, and squeeze a lime wedge over it-stir, EAT (repeat) sometimes we crumble corn chips in at the end to eat the remaining yummy broth
It should make your nose run a bit, heat you up, make you crave lots of water and hopefully heal you of the demon cold or at least make you more comfortable : )

I'm back - I missed you all. Hawaii was hard to leave but - house full of boxes, no bathroom, work to do, cold weather CALLS TO ME.
Glad to be back to life though really. I just finished reading the Julia/Julie Project from Dec 25 through today (Comments too)-if she don't write that into a book some one else will probably pirate it and do it themselves and get rich (F****ers)
Soooo I think I'll spare the in depth run down and just give a top ten (in no particular order after points 1 and 2)
1. Seeing a humpback whale and humpback whalet about a hundred yards away from the little snorkel charter boat
2. Seeing the hundred or so dolphins that swam along and "surfed" the wake in front of the boat right before we saw (and ever so quietly heard) the whales
3. Laying on the beach on January 7th, swimming with sea turtles, laying on the beach
3. Getting doused in baby drool in Texas
4. Getting doused in puppy drool in Texas (Dexter exists!!!!)
5. Maudie's -Pete's Tantalizing Tacos, Hyde Park Bar and Grill fried Artichoke Hearts with lovely persons!
6. A badass $99 mail order chandelier
7. A last minute surprise New Year's eve wander down to the Lakeside after three days hectic repairing packing moving packing for beach wedding (from 1am to 3am or so)-pictures to prove it
8. Picking pumpkins for the wedding feast after Yoga at 8:00am on a wooden platform on a gently sloping volcanic mountain
9. Walking outside every morning for a week in my pjs - sitting listening waiting watching
10. Impromptu hike around a rocky mountainside path to catch the topless sunset (our own invention-born of too fast walking, sweatiness and ecstasy of being totally alone in nature) in my SURFAH flipflops
12. 95 year old jazz ukulele master giving me long life advice, doing yoga and providing beautiful music
11. Sadly TX is getting left behind bc the more recent Hawaii glows in my brain-had a great time at J/JP's folks' x-mas party-pigged out on jellycreamcheese thingie on crackers
12. Love from family and friends
